안녕하세요 여러분 and welcome on my blog mikainkorea.com! As you probably guessed right, my name is Mika (originally Michael but all my friends and family are just calling me Mika) and i am a 32 year old Austrian with Polish roots who felt in love with a beautiful Korean woman in Australia. After 8 long years of long distance relationship we decided that i will move to Korea and settle down here. I made my bachelor degree in Korean Studies at the University of Vienna (i uploaded a video how i received my very last grade of my studies, including a really bad dance performance ㅋㅋㅋ :D) and i was also studying Korean at the Yonsei KLI (which by the way i didn’t graduate yet). Unfortunately my Korean still sucks but i am working on that :P I am earning my buns as a self-employed Online Marketer / SEO Consultant, so unlike most foreigners here i am not an English teacher. I am just a regular foreigner in Korea who is exploring the Korean culture and society and having a good time here in South Korea! Right now my Korean wife Sujin and I are living in Seoul and we are trying to get along here as an international couple. Not always easy but where there is a will there is a way ;)
I love Korean food, especially 고기만두, 김치찌개, 닭갈비, 떡볶이, 김밥 (especially the ones my mother-in-law makes, nom nom nom) und Shabu Shabu 샤브샤브, basically everything besides sea food. I can handle fish and shrimps but that’s it :D Also i am a huge fan of Makgeolli 막걸리, a slightly sweet alcoholic beverage made from rice. Altough it has a milky taste, you shouldn’t underestimate it, because if you drink too much you’ll be faster pissed than you can say cat in a hat!
I am always very interested in meeting new people and expats here in Seoul, so if you want to drink some 막걸리 or a have a beer or two with me here in Seoul, please just let me know! But because my time is limited and i am really busy here these days, please understand that i can’t meet everybody who is getting in touch with me, but i will do my very best to reply to your eMails and let you know at which events / gatherings you can find and meet me :)
Recentely i started a Youtube channel about my life as a foreigner in Korea, so i would highly appreciate if you would subscribe my channel. I am also very active on Instagram, so if you like Korean food and landscape pictures, you know what you have to do :D
Thank you soooo much for visiting my blog and your interest in my life here in South Korea. 감사합니다! If you have any questions, always feel free to ask me in the comments section here on my blog.
Greetings from Seoul , South Korea
